Announcement: ATKSideChainExpander 1.0.1

I’m happy to announce the release of a side-chain stereo expander based on the Audio Toolkit (yes, after a compressor it is time for an expander!). It is available on Windows and OS X (min. 10.8) in different formats. This stereo expander can work on two channels, left/right or middle/side, possibly in linked mode (only one set of parameters), and can be set up to mix the input signal with the compressed signal (serial/parallel compression). The side chain channels can be used to steer the gain stage (the same setup will be used, right/left or middle/side).

The supported formats are:

  • VST2 (32bits/64bits on Windows, 64bits on OS X)
  • VST3 (32bits/64bits on Windows, 64bits on OS X)
  • Audio Unit (64bits, OS X)

The files as well as the previous plugins can be downloaded on SourceForge, as well as the source code.

The next plugins will be about delays or phasers…

    1. It’s an expander, but to steer the trigger, you won’t be using the input channel, but another one (actually 2). Then, it can work either per channel, in middle/side or in linked mode (where the steering channels power are summed to trigger the expander).

    1. Thanks. That’s strange, as I usually run auval on all plugins, but I could have been bitten by it again. I’ll have a look tonight and update the package in case there is an issue.
